Richard Sánchez

  • Current Hartford Athletic Goalkeeper

  • Sánchez has had a well-traveled career around North America that includes 29 MLS appearances. He signed with FC Dallas after emerging from the club’s academy system in 2011, then was sent on loan to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers during the 2013 NASL season. After four seasons with Dallas (2011-14), the Mexican keeper moved to Tigres UANL in Liga MX, where he stayed for three seasons (2014-17), before signing with the Chicago Fire. At the international level, Sanchez was the starting goalkeeper for Mexico when they won the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Mexico. Additionally, Sanchez was Mexico’s starting keeper at the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey, helping his side reach the Round of 16. Sánchez played for Sporting Kansas City II in 2020,for North Texas SC of League One in 2021, where he made 19 starts and recorded four clean sheets, for LA Galaxy in 2022, and now for Hartford Athletic in 2023.

Joe Rice

  • Current Hartford Athletic Goalkeeper

  • Rice played collegiately at Virginia Commonwealth University and appeared in six matches for the VCU Rams. He spent a year as a redshirt player and played from 2014-2018. While he was studying at VCU, he played in the National Premier Soccer League locally for Chesterfield United FC and Virginia Beach City FC.

  • Rice began his professional career in 2019 with the Richmond Kickers of USL League One. He signed with New England Revolution II in 2020, making nine appearances and winning the League One Save of the Year at season’s end. Rice was announced as a returning player as the Revolution II made the jump to MLS Next Pro ahead of the 2021 season. In total, he made 29 appearances over two seasons for New England Revolution II.

  • Rice spent the majority of the 2022 season with Loudoun United FC and being loaned to Detroit City FC in September. Across five starts with Loudoun, the 26 year old made 20 saves and posted a 1.99 GAA. He won USL Championship Save of the Week honors in Week 11 and would go on to join Hartford Athletic for the 2023 season.
